Introduction

Enterprise Zones are part of the Government’s wider Industrial Strategy to support businesses and enable local economic growth.
Mersey Waters Enterprise Zone (spanning both Liverpool Waters and Wirral Waters) was amongst the first Zones launched in 2012.

Enterprise Zones have established themselves as the driving force of local economies as they unlock key development sites, consolidate infrastructure, attract business and create jobs.

Enterprise Zones are helping to attract more foreign investment into the country, and are bringing jobs and businesses across England.
They are about delivering long-term, sustainable growth based on cutting-edge technology and enterprise. 

Liverpool Waters
 

The Liverpool Waters vision involves regenerating a 148 hectare historic dockland site to create a world-class, high-quality, mixed use waterfront quarter in central Liverpool. The scheme, an investment by Peel Land and Property exceeding £5.5 billion comprising over 1.3 million square metres of mixed use floor space, will create a unique sense of place, taking advantage of the sites’ cultural heritage and integrating it with exciting and sustainable new development. Liverpool Waters will contribute substantially to the growth and development of the city, allowing ease of movement and strong connections between Northshore, its hinterland, and the city centre.

Wirral Waters
 

Wirral Waters is an investment by Peel Land and Property exceeding £4.5 billion comprising over 1.7 million square metres of mixed use floor space. The 500-acre site comprises former dockland which Peel inherited following the acquisition of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company in 2005. Peel has launched a 30-year strategy which will see Wirral Waters become one of the largest regeneration projects in the UK. It will transform the derelict site into a sustainable location for local and international businesses, creating more than 20,000 permanent jobs for the Liverpool City Region, as well as offering new housing opportunities.
